Searching for Spiritual Fitness

So, I know that I need to be Spiritualy fit. I know the three basic areas of Spiritual fitness that I need to work on. My question is, how am I to go about doing that? I know I need knowledge, being, and doing. Do you suppose you could give me a more detailed deffinition of each and a few ways I could go about stregthening these areas?

That is fine, I will be on vacation starting this Saturday and will be gone a couple of weeks and will not have internet access.

Yeah, I will have to do a post on the being and doing things. You and I have grown up in a church tradition that is good at the knowing, but not so good at the being and doing.

We study the bible, primarily, do some limited types of praying, and go to church regularly. Problem is it is not enough to get you spriritually fit. We talk about serving, but are cautious about the "social gospel" or "works." We also tend to just wait for grace to "fall" or "rain down" on us rather than try. This is because we fear legalism and trying to "earn" our own way through works. Thus we do not "do" much. We wait for the "calling."

I will argue that effort and earning are completely different. And that grace is not opposed to effort, a concept that leaders in the spiritual formation movement advocate.

These are generalizations, but it might explain why the concepts seem new. They are actually quite old and have long traditions in other demominations and in historical Christianity.

We are just not good at them.

Don't let all this confuse you at this point. We will explore them over time and God will show you as you practice. Just look for examples in Jesus life as you read through Mark.
