Amazed

I got an email today about 9 year old and his 5 year old brother who do not have beds to sleep on.

The director of the Dove House, a battered women's shelter in Clinton, AR, received a random call from one of the Grace youth leaders last week who was calling to get their contact information. When asked why she needed the contact info, the youth leader told her that we were making beds for needy family. She was blown away. She told her that their roof had recently collapsed from water damage and destroyed all the furniture in the room. They have repaired the roof but now do not have any furniture for the room and need beds.

We have two more bunk beds on the verge of being completed.

Two ways you can think about this. You can think that all the details of this whole process were orchastrated by God. Or you can think of them as semi-random events. I have a hard time believing in the former, though I wish it were so. I am inclined to believe in the latter. Either way to me you have to be amazed at God. He is good. Some unlikely people follow their hearts and build beds for people they have never met. And then, in this great big world, this group gets connected to people in need through an unlikely, informal network of people who are also following their hearts.

In about a week, that 9 year old boy and his little brother will be able to sleep in their own beds every single night, indefinitely. In about a week, a family that has fled from abuse and violence to be homeless will be able to sleep in a bed in a safe place.

Another example of "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven." And His will will be done through a small group of misfit teens, a few damaged youth workers, and a ragtag network of people who work tirelessly for little pay. How in the heck does this happen? God is amazing.

Sleep well Sebastion and Malik.
Sleep well in a bed homeless persons at the Bethlehem House.
Sleep well pitiful, damaged, neglected, lonely young adults at Grace House.
Sleep with a sense of God's love that has reached you. Godspeed.
