Bed 21

[Sorry no visual picture - although one is emblazened in my mind- just a word picture this time]

Last night we provided a sofa bed to a family that just got into housing. The family had two parents (yeah!), 5 kids, and the mother was pregnant. The kids had mattresses, but the mother was sleeping on the couch and the father on the floor in a small, run down, two bedroom duplex in the poor section of town. Since the parents slept in the living room a sofa bed was best for them. We also brought the kids coats (they didn't have any), blankets, towels, kitchen ware, and some food. All was donated by a small grass-roots network of compassionate people who responded quickly to a simple request. What a community!

They were elated. When we gave them the blankets, the father looked at his son with a big smile and exclaimed "There is your cover!!!" The child laughed with joy. Apparently the night before, the child had complained to the parents that he was cold and needed more covers. Without notice (they had no phone) they got a knock at the door at 8:00 PM. To them, it was an answer to prayer.

Formerly strangers, we looked into each others' eyes, shared moments of joy, and prayed together. It was absolutely beautiful! Incredible kingdom living.

No pride, just joy and pleasure for goodness and love, and praise, glory and honor to the source.

Why blog about it and tell others? One reason only, which you will find in Hebrews 10:24.
