Bed 25

The Second Chance ministry just got a house to use for transitioning the homeless into housing. It is an empty house at this point. It is in a "D" neigborhood and needs some work. Keith spent $100 to get the carpet cleaned. We moved in a nice couch and chair and some cooking ware.

Keith, the homeless outreach worker that I have known the past 3 years, has his first client. Ricky was living on the streets and responded to Keith's offer of a second chance. Keith believes in second chances. In prison, formerly homeless, he turned his life around, feeling like God gave him a second chance. Now his mission is to help others who need a second chance. He is on the streets every day in outreach. He is working with Ricky to see if he can run the house and do the cooking. Ricky is sleeping on the floor.

Bed 25 is so-so close to being done. Cut one bed rail, drill it, and attach the runners. How hard can it be? It just needs the coalition of the willing to finish it. Ricky needs to sleep in his own bed. It will be his first step toward stability. Knowing from where the bed came from is another step toward stability.

Father, I pray for some helpers to come finish the bed by this weekend so we can get let Ricky sleep with some dignity. Thank you for moving in the hearts of the willing to carry out your will to bring love and mercy to Ricky. Let your grace move in Ricky's heart to let him know from where his help comes from. As the coalition of the willing finish the bed for Ricky, let us put ourselves in his shoes and develop a deep compassion for him, like you do Father.

Kingdom living.
