K: The last time I had a meditative prayer time my mind was so distracted that I got disgusted and gave up. I haven't done a meditation since.
ME: I don't get it. That would be like getting out of the shower early because there was too much dirt coming off your body.

i can understand the frustration...sometimes it would be nice to just not have the distraction...though its true..you cant become good at meditating without practicing pushing off the distractions...its only when you get through that when you can start getting into other parts of yourself...or whatever...
p.s. glad to see you back from your "blogbatical"...or are you back?
haha....I couldn't agree more with you Mark and Aaron......I get so easily distracted too most of the time when I pray.....thats why sometimes I have to do it out loud even though I am the only one there!
Not quite back from the blogbatical. I just cheated. Maybe after I get back from sitting on the beach I will resume, maybe.
We don't always have to close our eyes and sit when we pray. I like going on a meditative walk at night. If you listen, you will notice that it is teaming with life out there. A definite "thin place." I sometimes use movement when I pray/meditate, kind of like tai chi. Our body is part of our self. We were commanded to love God with our whole being, including our strenght, which comes from our body. So why not use it in prayer?
And, yeah Tommy, I sometimes use words when I pray.
