Under the Bridge

This picture is from last Tuesday night under the bridge.
See the dude serving pizza to the homeless under the bridge? He has a horrible life story. In short, he was abused and abandoned by his parents and lived in several different foster homes.
He was staying in a half-way house when he spent the night with us when we slept out with the homeless a few months ago. Some pentacostal dudes (one of them the husband of the woman in the picture) preached the good news of the kingdom to him at 2:30 in the morning. He gave God his initial consent to be present with him (in church language, he prayed the prayer) and the pentecostals took him over to the park adjacent to the bridge and did a full-immersion baptism in the park fountain! He comes back to the bridge and spent the night in his wet clothes.
The pentecostals invited him to church, gave him a job working for one of them, and accepted him into their family. And here he is serving the homeless a meal.
What a story! The kingdom in action!
ps. okay, I cheated again. Back to my blogbatical
