I am in New Mexico this week for a conference. I just finished a grant proposal that we will mail off to the Kerr Foundation tomorrow with hopes that they give us some money to fund UC. It would be a matching grant. They give $5000 and we match it with our own $5000. That would buy us some additional equipment to make the shop more efficient and get us the materials for 12 sets of bunk beds.
As tedious as grant writing is, I like it, especially for something like this. In grant proposals you get to dream a little. If the reviewers like it, then they give you money to carry out your dream.
With grants, it requires a good proposal and some luck. I am not sure what God has in mind here, but let's pray that his will will be done.
