Feed Them Ethanol

America is facing a credit crunch. It is putting a crimp in our style.

The extreme poor are facing a food crunch.

If, on a conservative estimate, the cost of food rises 20%, 100,000,000 people could be forced back to the $1 a day level, adding to the roughly 1,000,000,000 people who already live on this level.

The price of wheat has risen by 130% in a year, and rice has increased by 74% percent.

To afford a bowl of grain, the extreme poor are cutting back on meat, vegetables and one or two meals. Let’s not talk about what is happening to the desperate—those on 50 cents a day.

There is a famine going on right now. Famine means mass starvation. By the end of today, another 28,000 children will have died of starvation.

As I was riding to work this morning, I heard on the radio that governments were meeting today to work on this problem. Good for the governments.

I want to go to a meeting - today.
