Getting Close

We are putting the finishing touches on the beds for Malashia, Chevelle, Will, Machia, and Jasmine. When we met this family over 6 months ago, their stability was hanging by a thread. They literally had nothing. They were living in a dark, mold infested duplex with no heat, heading into winter. I remember praying with them the second night we met. We have walked with them through some tenous times.

We hope to deliver the beds this next Wednesday night. I can already picture the delight in the children's faces. We have already talked with William, their father, about what we expect. We expect these beds to stay with the children throughout their childhood and adolescent years. We expect them to be a tangible component to their sense of stability, security, and well-being.

We built the 5th bed with the option of being used in a bunk about 2 years from now when the youngest, Shannon, will be old enough for his own bed. We did this to represent our hope and expectation that this family will still be together and in a home in 2 years, and that we will continue to be a part of their lives, continuing to love and speak words of light and life to them.

We build with anticipation for all that these beds symbolize. What an incredible experience.

The boughs of the mighty are broken
And the weak are clothed with strength
May the glory of the Lord endure forever
