Julie is one step closer to getting her kids back. She needed beds for her two daughters before DHS would release her children back to her. Since we are the Bed Project, we helped her get beds. If we were the toaster project, I suppose we would have given her a toaster.
Tonight, under the bridge, it was 27 degrees, yet we still served about 80 people. I can't remember a time when so many expressed their gratefulness. One guy asked us for a blanket. He was anticipating a long night. We gave him two. He was thankful. There were about 4 young people that had just hopped off the train. One of them was pregnant. They looked very happy to be getting a meal. They thanked us profusely. We gave them an extra hot dog for their dog. The dog wagged her tail. We passed out some hospital socks. They weren't the most stylish, but they were clean and warm. Several thanked us for the socks. I heard more thanks and "god bless you's" tonight than I had heard in a long time. It was one of those nights.
